Francis Moore takes his turn at the hammering competition at the 2005 Nathaniel Moss reunion.
Francis’ grandson Roger Brannon won by driving his nail in just 2.09 seconds.

The 24th annual Nathaniel Coleman and Hattie (Lynch) Moss reunion held on Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Cedar Creek State Park brought 146 family members together again to celebrate their heritage.

At 12:20 pm Wilbert Reed gave the blessing for the meal, a covered dish dinner enjoyed by all. Following the meal, Shelly Rose began the children’s games, and reunion president Daniel Moss called the meeting to order. Family members agreed once again to contribute money for caretaking of Nathaniel’s burial site in the Karickhoff Cemetery and for Hattie’s burial site in the Upper Steer Run Cemetery. A scholarship program for family members entering college was also suggested and approved by those in attendance. Official applications will be created and made available at next year’s reunion.

Pam Tuley won the door prize, an afghan knitted and donated by Kelli Moss. Family members also purchased reunion T-shirts, raffle tickets for a rocking chair handmade by Ron Taylor, and Moss Family cookbooks made available by Leta Smith. Paul Moss facilitated family updates from representatives of each of Nathaniel’s children. Daniel and Kelli Moss were re-elected as president and secretary/treasurer, respectively, for 2006. Bobby Beall then led an auction of family crafts and novelties and other items.

Following the meeting, family members talked and enjoyed bingo, a nail hammering competition won by Roger Brannon, and water balloon and egg tosses, both won by teammates Bill Wasil and Derek Wasil.
